Does the name Alix Dobkin, TYL ’62,  sound familiar to you? I wouldn’t be surprised if it did. After earning her bachelor’s degree in painting at Tyler, Dobkin moved to Greenwich Village, began a folk-singing career and mingled with other young artists, including Bob Dylan. Now known for being brazenly outspoken and writing music to match, Dobkin has released six albums to date. Her memoir, My Red Blood: A Memoir About Growing Up Communist, Coming On to the Greenwich Village Folk Scene and Coming Out in the Feminist Movement, will be published by Alyson Books in October 2009.
