On the bright side

September 4, 2009

The Owls suffered a tough loss in the season opener against Villanova at the Linc last night. But, on a happier note, the stadium was filled with quite a crowd of Cherry and White. Students and alumni arrived in droves for pre-game tailgating and out-cheered the ‘Nova fans from kick-off to the end of the 4th.

I spent the game sandwiched between two parents of student-athletes, who I think were more nervous than the players and coaches about the start of the season.

The Owls head to Happy Valley for their next game against Penn State on Sept. 19.

Watch out kittens

Get out your Temple gear. Dig up your tailgate grill. Head to your local craft store for Cherry body paint and hair dye.  The first game of Temple’s’ football season is less than one month away.

The Owls will take on the Villanova Wild Kittens in the inaugural mayor’s cup (Nutter’s got to be a Temple fan, right?) at the Linc on September 3.

I’ll be heading down to the game early with Temple Young Alumni for a tailgate just outside the stadium. Bring your own snacks, grills, dogs, beverages and such. Let’s pack the parking lot, and the Linc, with Cherry and White spirit and show those kittens that this is our city.
