Young Alumni Race for the Cure

Temple Young Alumni: Let’s unite together to Race for the Cure! It’s the 20th Anniversary of Philadelphia’s Race for the Cure, and this year the TUYA is putting together a team for the 1 Mile Fun Walk to show our support for this great cause. Join us on Mother’s Day to walk with fellow recent grads.

The registration deadline is this Sunday, April 24. To register:

  • Go to http://race.komenphiladelphia.org
  • Select “Race Registration” and go to “Race Team Registration”
  • Select “Join a Race Team”
  • Type “Temple University Young Alumni” for team name; select “Company/Corporate” for division; and type “Temple University Alumni Association” for team company
  • Select “Survivors & All Adults” for participation type
  • Choose: 1 Mile Fun Walk

If you can’t make the race, you can also support our team by making  donation online. We hope to see you there!

Spring in the Capitol

Temple alumni in the D.C. area – relive your memories of Temple’s Spring Fling at a special event for Owls at Mezza Luna in D.C.

Mix and mingle with friends, former classmates and new acquaintances at our very own Spring Fling Happy Hour on Tuesday, April 13 from 6:00 – 9:00 PM.

Enjoy free appetizers for the first hour and drink specials throughout the evening. Be sure to sample the “Temple Tini” shots, sponsored by Absolut. And, like any good Spring Fling, there will be plenty of prizes and giveaways.

Mezza Luna is located near Farragut North Metro Station. This is a free event – bring your Temple friends!

With impressive wins over Rhode Island and Richmond to secure the A-10 Tournament Championship, the Owls earned a No. 5 seed in the East Region of the NCAA Tournament. Temple will face the No. 12 seed Cornell on Friday at 12:30 PM in Jacksonville. With an overall record of 29-5, the Owls are making their 28th tournament appearance on a 10-game winning streak.

A-10 Tournament Update

The women’s basketball team pulled out a thrilling upset in overtime against No. 2 seed Dayton on Sunday evening to advance to the A-10 Championship today. The Owls take on nationally ranked No. 5 Xavier at 5:00 PM at Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro, MD.  Support the Owls and come out to watch our women vie for the tournament title! Buy your tickets now.

Going to the game? Stop by the Temple alumni suite (Private Suite #3 inside the arena) for complimentary drinks and food. The suite opens at 4:00 and will remain open throughout the game.

Can’t make it to DC? Catch the Owls on TV on ESPN2.

In men’s basketball news, Head Coach Fran Dunphy was awarded the A-10 Coach of the Year title as the men look forward to this weekend’s A-10 Tournament. Atlantic 10 co-champions, the Owls face the winner of the Duquesne vs. St. Bonaventure game at noon on Friday, March 12. Temple Athletics will host a pre-game party at Bally’s beginning at 10:00 AM. Women’s A-10 Tourney Begins This Weekend

The basketball postseason gets underway this weekend as the women’s basketball team heads to Upper Marlboro, MD on Saturday, March 6 for the A-10 tournament. The Owls will face the winner of the Duquesne vs. George Washington game. Tip-off for the Temple game is at 8:00. Get your game tickets!

The women are heading in to the tournament as the No. 3 seed and coming off a two-game winning streak. Keep your eye on sophomore Kristen McCarthy, who was recently honored as Big 5 Women’s Basketball Player of the Week. She has averaged 19.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game in the regular season, ranks fourth in the A-10 in scoring, and proved herself to be a powerhouse in the final games of the year.

What’s a tournament without an alumni party? Join Washington D.C. area fans in the Temple alumni suite at Showplace Arena. Enjoy an open bar, sandwiches and finger foods before, during and after the game. The suite will be open from 7:00 – 10:00 PM. Cost is $20 per person; game tickets must be purchased separately. Silver and Gold Get-Togethers

Calling all alumni from the Classes of 1960 and 1985: Come back to campus on Saturday, March 6 for a fun-filled afternoon. Featuring tours of Main Campus, men’s basketball vs. George Washington and special events for these reunion classes, it’s an opportunity to rekindle friendships and see today’s Temple.

The Class of 1985’s celebration begins with a tour of Temple followed by the 25th reunion party. Hear from renowned Temple psychologist Frank Farley, enjoy a great lunch and share your favorite Owl moments on our open mic. Then, cap off your day with an exciting men’s basketball game.

The Class of 1960’s event begins with a pre-game lunch at the Liacouras Center, followed by the big game.

Happy Happy Hour

Thursday, Feb. 18 is a great night to grab your favorite cocktail with your favorite alumni group.

On that evening, the Temple Ambler Campus Alumni (TACA) will be hosting its first happy hour at the Shanachie Irish Pub, just a few minutes down the road from Temple Ambler. Beginning at 5:30 PM, enjoy drink specials and free appetizers while catching up with fellow grads. Don’t forget your business cards for networking and the raffle! Alumni are free; guests are $10.

College of Engineering graduate? Head out to King of Prussia to celebrate Engineers Week at Champps (located right in front of the United Artists theater). Mix and mingle with alumni and friends while enjoying complimentary beer, wine and appetizers.
